This was not overheard by me, but was overheard outside of an Upper East Side restaurant and reported at the end of a review in the NY Observer:
Outside the restaurant, one of the customers was smoking a cigarette and talking on his cell phone. “I went home with one of the hostesses two weeks ago,†he said. “When she saw me tonight, she said I’d be waiting a long time for my table.â€
Made me smile.
